A limited number of specially commissioned SASF coins to remember Operation Firewood (31 October 1987) have been struck by RECORDARE and a few are now available to collectors. This is your only chance for serious collectors to acquire these commemorative coins.
The design features the units that were active participants in this Operation – led by 5 Reconnaissance Regiment, members from 2 Reconnaissance Regiment, 101 Battalion and 101 Battalion Romeo Mikes and 1 Parachute Battalion as well as various support elements from SA Air Force, SA Medical Services and Sector 10 took active part in this Operation which tops the list of most SADF soldiers perishing in a single Operation during the entire Border War.
The Collectors coin is inscribed with ‘We Will Remember’ on the back.
This unique coin is 7.5 cm in diameter and 4mm thick, making it truly one-of-a-kind.
